What Do I Do If I Notice a Mistake After Approving Payroll?

Here’s what happens next:


🕒 If Payroll Hasn’t Been Processed Yet

If we haven’t submitted the payroll to HMRC, we can usually make the changes straight away — no problem.


🗂️ If Payroll Has Already Been Submitted

You have two options:

  1. Reprocess the payroll

    • This corrects the mistake immediately

    • A reprocessing fee may apply (see below)

  2. Fix it in the next payroll

    • We’ll make the adjustment in the following month

    • Good option for small changes like tax code updates or missed hours


💰 Will There Be a Fee?

  • If we made the mistake, we’ll fix it for free

  • If the mistake wasn’t ours, there’s usually a reprocessing fee

    • This is normally 75% to 100% of your regular monthly payroll fee

    • It depends on the situation and the complexity of the change
