What Deadlines Should I Be Aware of Throughout the Payroll Year?
Key dates for payroll processing, payments, pensions, and compliance
To keep your payroll running smoothly and remain compliant, there are several key deadlines you should be aware of throughout the payroll year.
We help manage most of these on your behalf, but here’s a clear overview of what matters — and when.
📅 Monthly & Recurring Deadlines
🧾 Payroll Input Deadline
-
Varies per client (based on agreed SLA)
-
You’ll receive reminders from us ahead of your deadline each week/month
📤 RTI Submission (FPS)
-
Sent to HMRC on or before the employee pay date
-
We handle this automatically when payroll is approved
💸 PAYE/NIC Payment to HMRC
-
Due by the 22nd of each month (if paying electronically)
-
Or the 19th if paying by cheque
-
You’ll receive a PAYE summary or email reminder if opted in
🏦 Pension Contributions
-
Contribution files are uploaded and payments triggered after payroll approval
-
Providers often collect by Direct Debit within 3–5 days
-
Ensure funds are available in your pension account or bank
