How can former employees request their P45?
P45s are available via the employee portal — here's how access works and what to do if they can't log in
Former employees can access their P45 easily via their secure online portal — even after leaving your business. However, there are a few important things to note around access and responsibilities.
🔑 How Former Employees Access Their P45
- 
P45s are automatically uploaded to the employee portal when an employee leaves 
- 
Former employees retain access to their portal after leaving 
- 
They can reset their username and password if needed to regain access 
🏢 Employer Responsibilities
- 
It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the employee was registered for the portal during their time with the company 
- 
If the employee never activated their portal or can’t access it: - 
They should contact the employer directly 
- 
Employers can download the P45 from the system or retrieve it from previously issued payroll reports 
 
- 
📌 Intelligent Payroll does not communicate directly with former employees.
📦 If Your Company Is No Longer a Client
If your company has since left Intelligent Payroll and needs a former employee’s P45:

We can still help retrieve it 
- 
A small administration fee will apply for document retrieval
